Thanks New York Times.

Hey, I thought of you last Friday. I was taking out my entire "in-law" family (8 of us in all) to celebrate the birthday of my Russian mother-in-law (named Olga, of course).

We went to a Russian restaurant (found on the net) named Kremlin (promising) that boasted "Russian entertainment and dance".

Boy was it fantastic!!

There were Christmas trees flashing psychedelic lights at a dizzying speed stuck/taped/nailed close to the ceiling (everywhere), red Chinese New Year lanterns, Valentine's day shiny hearts and someone's "22"nd anniversary (?) half deflated helium ballons everywhere, and that's not even counting the Soviet hammer and sickle theme. Oh, and the dance floor with multicolour disco lights going round and round (our table was right next to the dance floor... and we were alone the entire night, we had the place to ourselves!).

A screen was displaying the weirdest streaming images (some guy in a Godzilla suit, slutty cheerleaders (?), a guy in a chipmunk suit at the beach, families strolling, a break-dancing dolphin...) to some Russian pop music.

And that was _before_ the Russian disco dancing started, and I'm not even going to try to describe the Russian karaoke that ensued! LOL

And as usual, our conversations were quadrilingual (Russian, Romanian, French, English... no one mastering perfectly anyone else's tongue... so imagine the merry linguistic chaos!)

The menu was full of strange meaty things (and good non-meaty ones too, I must admit), but the decor was soooo kitsch/bizarre that I thought "oh my gods, she would be the perfect person to take to this place! She'd really appreciate the nuttyness/garishness of it all!" :)

Oh my god, that sounds like bizarro heaven.
